Airbus A380 Could Turn Into Casino in The Sky For Asia
Movies were the first great thing that came to airplanes. Being able to pass the stressful time off the ground by watching a movie was a novel idea.
In today's day and age, it takes more than a movie, however, to keep people entertained. That is why a potential buyer is interested in the A380 aircraft from Airbus. The plan is to turn the jet into a casino in the sky.
"This(gambling) is clearly a growing business in Asia and what this interest reflects is what is happening in Macau and Singapore. The idea of a flying casino has been mentioned before but it's now looking a lot more concrete," said the head of Airbus' Executive and Private Aviation Division, Francois Chazelle.
Where Macau and Singapore are headed is a place that Las Vegas and Atlantic City used to claim. The gambling capitals of the world.
Although talks are ongoing at the present time, it does not look as if any casinos will be flying in the sky anytime soon. The tentative target date that has been thrown around for the A380 to be functioning as a casino, would be sometime between 2012 and 2017.
In order for the casino in the sky idea to work in Asia, a loophole would have to be found in the current laws. Several Asian countries currently have laws that prohibit gambling.
