American Idol Gambling Review: Cook And Archuleta Still In Front
American Idol is down to the semi-finals. Jason Castro was voted off this week after a dreadful two performances, and that leaves only the final three to battle for the American idol crown.
Next week will be an uphill battle for Syesha Mercado, according to the gambling odds. While any of the three finalists have a chance to win, Mercado's chance is still a long shot.
Betting odds reveal that David Cook and David Archuleta are still head and shoulders above Mercado. That could change in an instant, as we saw this week with Castro. He forgot the lyrics and performed poorly.
If either of those two things happen in the semi-finals next week, the culprit will most likely be eliminated. For Cook and Archuleta, their performances have been nearly perfect for the past several weeks, according to the judges.
Mercado is being hurt by the apparent bias that influential judge Simon Cowell has shown against her. Up until this week's second song, Cowell has been unimpressed by Mercado's performances. His negative remarks have kept her down in fan voting.
She must have a fan base somewhere, however. She has escaped elimination from the bottom two nearly every week, although escaping this week will be a daunting task.
Cook has emerged as the gambling favorite, with Archuleta right behind.
