American Indian Casino Revenue at $23 Billion

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

Gambling revenue at American Indian casinos nationwide grew to nearly $23 billion last year, climbing at a rate more than three times faster than traditional gambling operations.

California tribes accounted for nearly a third of the money, according to a comprehensive report on Indian gambling to be released Wednesday.

In Wisconsin, revenue growth was limited to 4.4 percent, or $1.2 billion at the 28 casinos operated by 11 tribes. The state remained eighth in gambling revenue among states that have tribal gaming. Non-gambling revenue at Wisconsin's tribal casinos grew at about the same pace, to a total of $85 million.

Renegotiated casino pacts that took effect in 2004 had boosted revenues in the previous year, pushing the amount of money state and local governments were paid in revenue sharing deals to $68 million. In 2005, the tribes shared $71.1 million with state and local governments, the report said.
