Antoine Walker Fails To Pay Gambling Markers, Warrant Issued
Antoine Walker has become the latest ex-NBA player that has gone to Las Vegas, gambled, and not paid his debts. That is according to a criminal complaint that was filed on behalf of three Vegas casinos this week.
Walker, according to the complaint, took out $822,500 in markers at the casinos. he then lost the money, and did not pay back the markers. Now, a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
The three casinos where Walker was gambling were the Red Rock Resort, Caesar's Palace, and Planet Hollywood. Walker was not completely dismissive of his debts, he did pay back $178,000 of the gambling markers.
The way Walker obtained the markers could be what presents the biggest problem for the former NBA star. He wrote ten checks at $100,000 each and presented them to the casino. The checks, however, were written out of an account that held insufficient funds.
The money never seems to be the problem for these NBA stars. Last year, Charles Barkley, a legendary NBA player and current TNT analyst, was in a similar situation as Walker. Barkley eventually repaid all of his markers, but not before he had to suffer public humiliation.
Walker earned plenty of money in his career as a player. It is estimated that he made over $100 million while he was playing. Walker bounced around to many different NBA teams after leaving the University of Kentucky. He played for the Celtics, Hawks, Heat, Timberwolves, and Mavericks in his career.
