Aria Casino And Resort In Las Vegas Begins Hiring Process
There was a time when insiders in Las Vegas believed that CityCenter, MGM Mirage's prized project in the city would never be complete. Today, one of the casinos within the project announced they would be hiring 350 new employees.
MGM Mirage has had legal battles with their partners in the project, Dubai World, and also had to deal with the stock market crash. Still, they overcame those obstacles and are now on schedule to complete CityCenter.
The Light Group, a hospitality management firm, said today that they will be hiring 350 people for the Aria Casino and Resort. The jobs will range from bartenders and cooks, to security and promoters.
"CityCenter will be providing employment in Las Vegas that is desperately needed," said Las Vegas resident Barry Goldblum, "it is nice to see a casino that is hiring employees instead of laying them off."
Las Vegas casinos have experienced a terrible decline in revenue over the past year. What was once the gambling capital of the world, is struggling to keep that reputation during the economic recession.
Competition from other states have put a dent in Nevada's stranglehold on the casino industry. People no longer have to come from all over the country to gamble, most have the ability to do so in their own home states.
The CityCenter project is considered by some to be the last attempt of Las Vegas to get their clientele back. The project, when completed, will add over 12,000 employment opportunities to the state of Nevada.
