The city of Las Vegas and the state of Nevada are heavily reliant on their casino gambling industry. That is why the city has been looking for something to come along and bring interest back to Sin City.
On Thursday, they will receive that gift in the form of the Aria Resort and Casino at CityCenter. The $8.5 billion project is expected to help revive the ailing casino industry in Las Vegas, and people are already taking notice.
"This is one of the most beautiful facilities I've seen in a long time," said Margie Frank, visiting Las Vegas from Maryland, "There is no doubt that I will go home and tell my friends that they have to come out here and see this resort."
For Frank it was the resort, but for others it is the casino that is drawing their attention. Whatever the case, MGM Mirage and Dubai World, the owners of CityCenter, believe there will be something for everyone.
"All of us are going to find our own place," said MGM Spokesman Alan Feldman, "We're all going to find things we love the most. For some people, it may even be outside on one of the walkways. For others, it'll be any numbers on the inside, whether it's the lobby at Aria or along the walkway to the convention center, which has a magnificent Julian Schnabel."
High tech rooms are the norm at the resort, but that does not mean that customers will have to pay outrageous prices to stay. Thanks to the current economy, ARIA has rooms starting at less than $200 a night.
Some of the bars and restaurants had already been opened individually over the past several weeks. Now, most of the establishments within CityCenter will be open and available for the public to enjoy.
