Atlantic City Casinos Now Blaming Airlines For Revenue Failure

It may be time for casino owners in Atlantic City to take a look in the mirror. Their revenues continue to drop on a monthly basis, and they are running out of things to blame their failures on.

A few months ago, the owners of many of the eleven Atlantic City casinos went running to the city complaining that a new smoking law was hurting their business. They successfully lobbied the city to remove the smoking ban at the casinos. It the time since, revenue figures have continued to drop.

Now the casino owners have another target in their blame game. That target is the Atlantic City Airport. Casinos are throwing their support behind a movement to expand the amount of flights that come into the airport.

They are claiming that because of the low number of flights that come into the airport, they are losing out on potential revenue at their casinos. An effort is under way to fix this problem.

"At some point, these casino owners are going to have to put the blame where it belongs, on themselves. What will be next, will they begin to blame people for being laid off from their jobs," said an employee at one of the AC casinos.

Spirit Airlines has already succumbed to the pressure being put on by the city. They will be beginning service to and from Boston on May 1st.
