Atlantic City Holds Steady From Last Augusts Casino Revenue
Atlantic City is trying to rekindle the type of enthusiasm for their casinos that once made them one of the leaders in the casino industry in the United States. They were hoping August, typically a strong month, would pull them from their poor numbers this year.
That did not happen. The city had only a modest increase over the same month last year in their revenue figures. They were up 0.7 percent, not exactly the type of increase that would save a year.
After the down August, it looks as if Atlantic City casinos will see declining revenues for a second straight year. That will become a record that the city will not be proud of.
Many casinos in Atlantic City have renovated to try and bring customers back. It is an uphill battle they are facing, however, thanks to other states expanding their casino offerings.
It used to be that Atlantic City was the only place for gamblers on the East Coast. Now there are casinos in almost every state on the East Coast. Gamblers are not traveling like they used to.
