Atlantic City Needs More Major Casino Gambling Projects

Atlantic City was such a popular destination in the past that the likes of Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack crew could be seen there on almost any given weekend. That was then, and this is now for the casino gambling industry in New Jersey.

What there is now is a shell of its former self. The city is in desperate need for something new, something fresh, that will lure people out of casinos in neighboring states.

Competition for the gambling dollar is not something that Atlantic City is used to. When they developed themselves into the premiere gambling destination on the East Coast, it was done largely because there were no other gambling destinations.

Now, however, that has all changed. Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York have all made significant strides in casino expansion, and people no longer have to leave their home states to find slot machines.

A couple of years ago it appeared that AC was back on the fast track to success in the casino gaming industry. They had three big projects underway and the city was to be reborn. Two of those projects have been stopped and the third is taking longer than expected to build.

If Atlantic City is going to again rise to the top, they need to convince developers that it is worth millions of dollars to build resorts. Unfortunately, that might be too tall a task at least until the economy returns from the abyss.
