Baton Rouge Casino Gambling Still Far Away For Pinnacle
Baton Rouge, Louisiana knows that they will be getting a casino from Pinnacle Entertainment, they just do not know when it will be. The company acknowledged again late this past week that they have no idea when the casino will be built.
Standing in the way of the development plans is the Metro Council. They must vote on Wednesday on Pinnacle's concept plan. If approved, there still would need to be 576 acres in Baton Rouge that would have to be re-zoned.
"This project could be one that might take years to build," said observer Jerry Trale, "and Pinnacle doesn't have to rush because they already are receiving revenue from Baton Rouge customers."
Pinnacle has a casino in Lake Charles. It is the most successful riverboat casino in Louisiana, but that is largely because it draws its customer base from Texas. A new Lake Charles casino could come before the Baton Rouge project, according to an executive from Pinnacle.
Texas could severely damage Pinnacle if they were to follow through on legalizing casinos in the Lone Star state. Currently, casinos are illegal in Texas, but lawmakers have been discussing the possibility of legalizing casino gambling.
Baton Rouge already has two casinos. The two of the casinos combined do not equal what Pinnacle's Lake Charles casino draws in terms of revenue.
