Battle Continues In Race For Aqueduct Casino Rights
Aqueduct apparently is the next great place for a casino. Some of the biggest names in casino development have placed bids to operate a casino at Aqueduct, and Delaware North has become the latest.
Delaware North has already failed in their efforts to bring a casino downstate. Now, they have submitted a bid that they feel makes them one of the best suitors for the Aqueduct casino.
"Our commitment and dedication to this project are steadfast. We are the best choice for Aqueduct VLT gaming development because of our financial commitment and strong experience in gaming and entertainment development and operations," said William Bissett, President of Delaware North's Gaming and Entertainment division.
The experience factor may not exactly give Delaware North the advantage. Penn National Gaming and Steve Wynn, two powerhouses in the casino industry, have also shown interest in developing the Aqueduct casino.
Delaware North may have something else that could be a wild card in the selection process. They have already won the rights to the Aqueduct casino, but failed to come up with the funding by the March deadline. That forced Governor Patterson to re-open the bidding process.
Another interesting twist to the Aqueduct casino saga comes from one of Delaware North's partners. Peebles has decided to submit their own bid in addition to the Delaware bid this time around. Saratoga Gaming and Raceway and McKissack & McKissack are the other partners in the project.
