Beau Rivage Casino Resort Reopening in Biloxi
Next Tuesday, the Beau Rivage Casino Resort in Biloxi, Mississippi will be reopening it's doors, one-year after Hurricane Katrina violently shut them.
The reopening of the casino means thousands of jobs for the area, and a fresh new start for many people in Biloxi.
The damage to the resort by Hurricane Katrina cost parent company MGM Mirage roughly $550 million dollars.
Tourists have already begun flocking back to Biloxi to visit other Gulf Coast area casinos such as Imperial Palace, Isle of Capri, and Boomtown. Once the Beau Rivage opens the doors on Tuesday, the area's commerce figures will see an even larger increase.
Although there are still plenty of empty lots, damaged buildings and beached boats, most Katrina debri has been cleared, and by the end of this week 6 of the 9 pre-hurricane resorts will be open.
