Billion Dollar Biloxi Casino Resort On Hold After Ruling
The Mississippi State Gaming Commission through a wrench in the plans of RW Development late this past week. They ruled that the site for a potential casino resort is not a legal gaming site, and it may change the whole outlook of the site.
RW Development has been planning for the South Beach Casino Resort to be an all inclusive resort. They were set to having gambling, shopping, and condos on the site. Now all of those plans are in jeopardy after the ruling.
"They're on hold. Not permanent hold, but it's on hold because everything had been geared toward this approval. We would not have gone into this presentation and this application had we not thought that it was going to be approved," said the head of RW Development, Ray Woolridge.
Woolridge believes that the decision by the Gaming Commission was a mistake. "When you look at what was presented, it was absolutely no rational for making that decision that it was not a legal site. I think it was a mistake. The decision was a mistake," he said.
There is still a chance that RW asks a judge to overrule the commission's decision. The company has not yet decided whether they will pursue that option or not. They are, however, moving forward with one phase of the development.
"The condo tower will be finished and that will be operated as a hotel," said Woolridge.
