Billionaire Blum Spreading His Wings In Casino Industry
Billionaire's use their money in a variety of ways. Most of the time some form of entertainment becomes a hobby for these billionaires. whether it is owning a sports team or diving into the world of casino gambling, entertainment becomes a major player in these billionaires lives.
Enter Neil Bluhm. The billionaire Chicago developer has entered the casino market at a dizzying speed. His casino company, Midwest Gaming, recently secured a license to bring a casino to Des Plaines, Illinois.
Earlier in the year, Bluhm was the major player in a bail out of a casino project in Pittsburgh. Don Barden was the original license holder, but when he could not fulfill financial requirements, Bluhm headed an investment group to finish the project.
While Bluhm is becoming a well known person in the casino industry, that does not mean he is one of the most popular people. "The arrogance of Midwest Gaming is palpable. Mr. Bluhm is a smart businessman, but he also wants everything done his way," said Rev. Eugene Winkler, a member of the Illinois Gaming Board that voted for Midwest Gaming to receive the license.
Still, the detractors have not held back Bluhm. His companies have continued to build casinos all across the US. He currently has casino projects in Pennsylvania and Mississippi. He even has a project in Canada.
