Blue Chip Hoping New Hotel Tower Will Bring People Into Casino

The Blue Chip Casino is going through the same financial restraints that other casinos are experiencing. They still, however, found the funding to complete what they hope will be a game changer in Michigan City, Indiana.

A new twenty two story hotel has been added to the Blue Chip Casino. It comes equipped not only with 302 hotel rooms, but also other amenities that people are looking for.

The hotel has a spa, several restaurants and bars, and a theatre that seats 1,200. The 302 rooms are an addition for the casino, which already had an eight story hotel with 184 rooms.

The competition in the area has become high in the past few years. The Four Winds Casino Resort has taken much of the business from Blue Chip. The estimate is that the casino has lost over thirty five percent of their clientele since Four Winds opened.

The casino is hoping the new hotel helps bring some of those people back that were lost to Four Winds. The addition of the hotel as opposed to more casino floor space was key to bringing people not only to the casino, but also to the area.

The hotel came with a price tag of $130 million. It opened on Thursday with a fireworks show and so far the reviews have been positive.
