Borgata Hotel Gambling Casino & Spa
Las Vegas heavy-hitters united to open the first new casino built in Atlantic City in 13 years, and it's a beauty. A joint venture between Boyd Gaming and MGM Mirage, the opulent Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa is located near the public marina on the Absecon Channel, about one mile north of downtown. The Borgata is a destination in itself, filled with so much stuff that you could spend an entire weekend there without ever venturing to the Boardwalk. The 2,000 guest rooms have a sleek, modern decor and are built for romance, they have showers for two and some have soaking tubs for two.
The public areas are equally extravagant. Black jack tables have six seats instead of seven to "ensure comfort" and the poker room and racebook cater to all types of gamblers. The property has more restaurants (11) than most small towns. Choices range from casual to elegant and include Italian, Asian/French, steaks, Latin/Asian fusion, a buffet, French bistro, casual Asian noodle place and pizza. When you're not gambling, eating or admiring your bathroom, you'll still find plenty to do within Boragta's walls.
The 1,000-seat Music Box accommodates comedians and intimate musical performances, and the 3,700-seat Event Center hosts larger and louder concert acts, such as Hootie and the Blowfish and Crosby, Stills and Nash. The Gypsy Bar offers live Latin music and plenty of room for dancing. Spa Toccare offers massages and other relaxation-for hire; Pierre and Carlo Salon provides facials, manicures, hair cutting and styling, and other beauty treatments.
Men can pamper themselves and still be macho at Shaving Grace, which offers the services of a barbershop (shave, haircut, shoeshine) with the trappings of a classy sports bar (beer, billiards, wide-screen TVs and cigars). The Pump Room gym has weights and cardio machines, each with its own personal viewing screen.
