Casino Advertisement Violates Canadian Gambling Law
Manitoba Lotteries Corp. has violated several casino gambling advertising rules by display 2 men playing a poker game in a centerpiece ad included in the weekend paper. It's not the 1st time it's actually happened. And it's further proof the government is actively urging Manitobans to gamble. Provincial rules prohibit gambling facilities, including government-owned casinos from showing people gambling in advertising pieces. "Obviously the motivation to promote gambling and to rake in as much revenue as possible seems to have overtaken their own sense of propriety and caution when it comes to their advertising campaign," said Tory Opposition Leader Hugh McFadyen. The best casino ads in the past years have carefully avoided showing people gambling at casinos, opting instead for generic casino shots and pictures of live entertainment.
