Casino Developer Big Donor of Charlie Crist Campaign
The development company hired by the Seminole Tribe of Florida to expand its casino gambling empire has given $100,000 to a political committee working to boost Attorney General Charlie Crist's campaign for governor of Florida.
The donor, Coastal Development Corp., owned by Richard T. Fields, wrote a check on July 18 to the Conservative Values Coalition, a third-party political group that has promoted Crist's campaign. Fields, a former business associate of Donald Trump, brought together Baltimore developer David Cordish and the Seminole Tribe 6 years ago to develop the tribe's successful Hard Rock Casinos in Hollywood and Tampa.
In late June, the Conservative Values Coalition sent out a glossy mailer touting Crist's conservative credentials at the same time the Crist campaign started running a TV ad bearing a similar message.
