Casino Gambling a Major Issue For Republican Candidate

Judy Baar Topinka added her name to a growing list of candidates who are hinging their candidacies on the wings of the popular issue of casino gambling.

Topinka has proposed a plan for a land based casino for Chicago as well as the expansion of the cities already in place gambling laws.

She claims that by opening a city casino and allowing gaming boats already in existance the right to more gambling games on board. she claims that the increased revenue would hit an estimated $5 billion for the state over the period of four years.

Some of her main competion could come from within her own party as plans like this have been proposed in the past and have always been shot down by the republicans. Supporters of the plan are hoping that if she should win the race for Governor, that perhaps, Tapinka will be a ble to convince some of those republicans to change their stance on the issue.

Tapinka seems to be one of a growing number of candidates around the country that are trying to ride the recent gambling boom right into public office. Many politicians around the country are putting Casino gambling at the top of their list of debate issues, hoping that the general public, who at this point seems overwhelmingly in favor of casinos in their area, will elect them based on their positive stance on legalized gambling.
