Casino Gambling Closer To Reality Again In Wyandotte County
Wyandotte County is not alone in their frustrations regarding casino gambling in the state of Kansas. Two other counties have had similar tribulations when it comes to securing a deal with a casino developer.
On Friday, Wyandotte once again moved closer towards realizing their dream of having a casino in the county. That is because the United Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas have endorsed two proposals for a casino.
Amazingly, Penn National Gaming is one of the developers that won an endorsement. Penn National had previously won a contract in the state, but pulled out of that deal after they determined that they could not compete with a neighboring tribal casino in Oklahoma.
Kansas Entertainment won the other endorsement. They did so the old-fashioned way, by offering up more money. Kansas Entertainment promised to pay the Unified Government $2.5 million for every year they did not have a hotel built with their casino.
The hotel had been a sticking point in the original proposal. Kansas Entertainment did not want to include the hotel as part of a first phase of the construction process while the government wanted the hotel. Kansas Entertainment came back with the monetary offer.
The next step in the process is the endorsed proposals going before the Kansas Lottery Commission. Once the Lottery approves the proposals, one of them will be selected by the Kansas Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board.
