Casino Gambling Competition Between Michigan And Indiana Heats Up
The state of Indiana is about to see how competition affects business. The Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City has been unable to compete up until this point with the Four Winds Casino Resort in neighboring Michigan.
They went to the drawing board and have come up with a plan that they hope will bring customers in and move them away from Four Winds. On Thursday, Blue Chip is opening their new twenty two story hotel.
The hotel comes with glass walls and a price tag of $130 million. Blue Chip owners are in need of a boost. their revenue figures have dropped since the Four Winds opened back in 2007.
The two casinos are only ten miles from each other, so appearance and customer satisfaction is key. It is more important than in other areas where a casino may have a monopoly on the gambling business.
The Four Winds is owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. It contains a luxury resort, something up until now that Blue Chip has been unable to compete with.
