Casino Gambling in South Florida Apparently Legal
Pompano Park racetrack in Broward County, Florida is planning to build a 1,600 slot-machine casino, with poker tables and 2 full-service liquor bars, ready to open in 2007. Broward County is located directly north of Dade county, along the southeast coast of Florida.
Apparently, Broward County has 4 licenses up-for-grabs to operate casino-style slots and poker. Along with Pompano Park, the 3 other licenses will go to Dania Jai Alai, Gulf Stream Park, and Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center of Hallandale Beach.
Pompano Park, which is owned by parent company Isle of Capri, will release the drawings for a $140 million racetrack gambling casino this week. You may know Isle of Capri for their heavy presence in the previously booming Gulf Coast casino market.
Broward already has 2 Seminole Indian tribe casinos, both are loaded with casino-slots and poker. The larger of the two, Seminole Hard Rock, is a 500-room hotel with a 135,000 square foot gaming area.
