Casino Management Company Owes Tribe $527,000 After Dispute
The Rosebud Sioux Tribe has a casino that they now operate by themselves. They had a casino management company running the casino from 1994 to 1999, but that ended in a legal battle.
The tribe was awarded $527,000 in a legal battle with B-B-C Entertainment. The money was awarded after a dispute took place between the company and the tribe.
The initial judgement went in favor of the management company. After an appeal by the tribe, an appointed judge changed the initial ruling and ruled in favor of the tribe.
Now, the tribe is trying to receive payment from B-B-C. The company is run by Charles Colombe, the former tribal president. Interest also must be paid by the company tribe.
The company could consider appealing the second decision. before they could bring the matter to Federal court, they must first go through all the proper channels in the tribal court system.
The money has been owed to the tribe since the judge ruled back in the fall of 2007 on the issue.
