Casino Proposal Meets Strong Opposition In Canal Fulton
CANAL FULTON, Ohio -- Canal Fulton is one of several Ohio cities negotiating with the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma for casino gambling. A meeting that is expecting to draw several hundred people will take place Monday evening, and those who oppose the casino proposal are planning to make their voices heard, reported NewsChannel5. Citizens who are against the possibility of casino gambling in their community plan to line up outside City Hall before the meeting, so that council members will be aware of their opposition. Reaction against the casino proposal is so intense that some opponents have suggested recalling city leaders who show support for the complex being built there. Mayor John Grogin said he knew there would be some controversy surrounding the proposal, but he didn't realize it would be so strong.
