Casino Proposals Rolling In Before Deadline In Kansas

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

The deadline is 5PM today in Kansas to submit proposals for casinos in Wyandotte and Sumner Counties. Up until this week the process had been slow, but several big developers have now thrown their names in the hat.

Penn National Gaming Inc. has re-entered the process early on Tuesday. They are proposing a casino in Wyandotte County with a Hollywood theme. The company has already won a contract in the state in another county, but pulled out of the deal.

Earlier in the week, the Kansas Speedway and the Cordish Company submitted their proposal for a casino that would overlook the racetrack in Kansas City, Kansas. The Speedway also had previously won a contract, but pulled out of their deal because of the economy.

Over in Sumner County, the competition was heating up as well. Foxwoods Development Co. has proposed a $250 million casino near the Mulvane exit on the Kansas Turnpike. The Sumner casino license had previously been awarded to Penn National.

Equity Ventures has partnered with two former executives from Mandalay Resort Group and has announced plans to submit proposals for two sites. One is near the Mulvane exit, and the other is near the city of Mulvane.

Kansas lawmakers approved four new state owned casinos back in 2007, but have yet to have any of them built. Only one of the original developers chosen to operate the casinos has followed through on their plans. The other three have all pulled out, leaving the state to start the process over again.
