A security guard at the Thunder Valley Casino located North of Sacramento was driving his SUV on Sunday when the truck fell into a Northern California creek. The man's next reaction may have been what saved his life.
The twenty-eight year old security guard pulled his gun and shot out one of the windows in the truck as it was sinking. He was then able to get out of the SUV, and flag down help once out of the water.
The driver was using a hands-free device for his cell phone and he told authorities that the device started him. He had minor injuries after the accident, but was able to get help. The SUV went through the guardrail when it veered off of the side of the road.
California has become one of the top casino gaming destinations in the US. The security guard in the one vehicle accident claims that his SUV was submerged about six to eight feet before he was able to shoot the window out and escape from the car.
The name of the security officer has not yet been released, but it has been confirmed that he worked at the Thunder Valley Casino. His duties at the casino called for him to carry a gun. The accident occurred at around 9AM on Sunday morning.
