Casino Security Truck Stolen By Off-Duty Firefighter In Pittsburgh
The people of Pittsburgh are not accustomed to the Steelers being in a position to miss the playoffs. That is why some of them may be acting out in the most unusual of ways.
An off-duty firefighter was arrested on Wednesday for stealing a security truck from the Rivers Casino. William M. White, from the North Side, claims to have been only looking for a ride home after a night of drinking, but his actions pointed in a different direction.
White asked a security guard for a ride home after he was found urinating by a vehicle in the casino's parking garage. The security guard drove White back to the main entrance of the casino so that he could call a cab. White then argued with a woman, and when the security guard broke up the altercation, White sped off in the guards pick-up truck.
Police later caught up with White, who pleaded with the officers to let him go because he was a Pittsburgh firefighter. When his pleas fell on deaf ears, White allegedly spit in one of the officers face.
The alcohol in White's system could have had some bearing on the outcome of the situation. A test given to White showed that his alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit. He has been a firefighter in Pittsburgh for sixteen years.
The Rivers Casino is one of the new additions to the Pittsburgh scene. It is part of a casino expansion effort that may soon result in table games at all of Pennsylvania's state casinos. Lawmakers are working on legislation that will legalize the table games.
