Casinos Around US Pumping Millions Into The Economy
This is not a good time for the banking industry, and the automobile industry is in shambles. One industry, however, is still pumping millions of dollars into the economy in the US.
Casinos around the country are doing their part to try and keep people from being swallowed up by the current economic conditions. The casinos have helped in a multitude of ways, including direct payments to the state and employment opportunities.
"There is little doubt that in most scenarios that casinos are helping the communities they are in much more than they are hurting them," said analyst Barry Frenz, "without casinos, there are areas of the country that would be in a much worse situation than they find themselves in now."
Casinos have been sprouting up all across the US. State after state are in the process of changing their casino gambling laws in the hopes that the resorts can save local economies. Even some of the most conservative states have entered the casino industry.
In Ohio, where voters have turned down casinos on several occasions before, it appears there has been a flip in opinion. A recent drive to secure signatures to place a casino initiative on the ballot in November succeeded in stunning fashion.
Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Michigan, and Missouri are just some of the state that are looking to casinos for help. Each state is receiving millions of dollars in revenue sharing from the casinos they have allowed.
The surrounding area of the casinos are also profiting. With the new casinos comes much traffic, and that leads people to surrounding businesses. The casinos have also put hundreds of thousands of people to work who were previously laid off from their old jobs.
The casino era has officially begun in the US, and it is off to a rousing start. With expansion continuing, casinos could end up being part of the solution to the US financial mess.
