Casinos Weighing Sports Betting Deal In Delaware
Casino owners were outraged by the possibility that sports betting could be coming to Delaware. They saw the original deal as potential competition that they did not need in the current economic climate.
The revised plan, however, has casino owners re-considering their positions. They still may not like the idea of sports gambling in the state, but they have been afforded some nice perks.
"The thought of getting table games ands sports betting together, that seems wonderful," said Dover Downs President and CEO Ed Sutor, "But at this price, we would rather not have either of those."
The casinos may not be happy with the deal, but the state is ecstatic. They are the ones that could benefit the most from the additional revenue from both the table games and the sports betting.
"The revenue generated from the sports betting proposal is going to help us meet the historic budget challenge we face,' said Governor Jack Markell in a statement, "Without it, it would not have been possible to even consider reducing the eight percent pay cut for workers."
