Chemehuevi Continues Quest to Build Local Casino

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

Despite the thumping Measure H received at the polls, the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe will continue to try build a casino here, the tribal chairman Charles F. Wood said Thursday. Measure H, on the ballot in the June 6 primary election, would have created a casino zone, which would include land for a planned Chemehuevi casino but excluded an area where two other Indian bands hope to build a casino.

The ballot measure did not name any tribes or Indian bands, Wood said Thursday, so it does not affect his tribe "in any way. "I was never in favor of the casino zone setup," he said, "and we never commented for or against it.

We are continuing with our plans" for a casino here, he said. "Barstow is a good place for a casino," the tribal chairman said. "There are five Indian tribes in San Bernardino County, but most are on the fringes of the county."
