Just this past week, one casino has been sold and another was given their foreclosure papers in the state of Nevada. There is little doubt that the economy has destroyed a once proud industry, and now, all eyes are on one project to save the day.
MGM Mirage and Dubai World have teamed up to bring a game changer to Las Vegas. CityCenter is a spectacle to see, and that is what officials in Las Vegas are hoping for. An increase in visitors would be good for all casinos currently residing in Sin City.
The Aria hotel casino is the centerpiece of CityCenter, and no matter where a person is standing inside, it is breathtaking. It is the next generation of resorts in Las Vegas, assuming of course, that there is a next generation.
Over the years, Las Vegas has evolved from a gangsters paradise, to a corporate playground. The casino that were owned by organized crime members have been sold to corporate America. The only problem is that corporate America is now struggling.
Many of the casino owners in Las Vegas have had to juggle their assets in recent years to ensure that the casinos remained open through one of the worst economic times in the history of the US. Now, CityCenter is being counted on to at least give the city and the state of Nevada a shot of adrenaline.
It will not be until the new year when analysts can accurately predict what effect CityCenter will have on the gaming industry in Nevada. For the sake of the existing casinos, however, that impact had better be a large one.
