Clark County in Indiana Votes to Float Casino
Could the third time be the charm when it comes to casino gaming across the river? Despite its defeat twice in the 1990s, some officials in Jeffersonville are ready to try it again. A first meeting was held Tuesday night to push the idea of putting the boat in the water."People argued before about all of the evils and what would happen," said Jeffersonville city councilman John Perkins.
"Well, none of that has come to pass, but millions of dollars has been pumped into Harrison County as far as infrastructure and roads. "After witnessing the success of other Indiana casino boats, Perkins began gathering signatures on a petition Tuesday night, hoping to get the 463 needed to put it on the ballot in November. "I would hope that people would see the benefits of what's happened in Harrison County, which has benefited greatly from the Caesar's operation," Perkins said.
