Colorado Woman Wins Big On Week Long Gambling Spree

When things happen having to do with luck, they often happen in bunches at a time. Whether it is good luck or bad luck, it usually comes packaged together in several different areas at one.

That is what makes what happened to a Colorado woman intriguing. She had a stroke of bad luck, and then followed that up with almost a full week of good luck. Let us explain.

Cathy Ortiz had recently lost her job truck driving, but that did not stop her from enjoying a bit of gambling. The gambling paid off in a big way when she went on an almost week long gambling winning streak.

"When things are down, something good happens. I never expected this good," said Ortiz to KUSA. The lucky run started on Sunday for Ortiz. That is when she won $1,260 playing slot machines at a Colorado casino.

On Monday, her luck continued when she bought a scratch off ticket from the Colorado Lottery and won $500. The scratch off win allowed Ortiz to then buy some Powerball tickets, which led to the biggest prize of the week.

After the Powerball drawing, the lucky woman realized that she had matched four of the five numbers in addition to matching the Powerball number. She played the $1 multiplier, which for this drawing meant five times her winnings of $10,000.

Ortiz now plans on using the $50,000 to put a down payment on a house. She will also be paying off her daughters car with the winning money.
