Columbia Sussex Looking To Switch Gambling Boats in Baton Rouge
Columbia Sussex is undergoing some major turbulence these days. They recently lost the license of their Atlantic City casino, the Tropicana. they are also in the process of selling casinos in Indiana and Mississippi.
That has not deterred the company of its plans in Louisiana. They are seeking approval to make a switch of two of their riverboats. They would like to switch the Belle of Baton Rouge, with their Amelia Belle.
The move will be voted on by the St. Mary Parish Council. If approved, it would still need to get the go ahead from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The company wants to move the bigger Amelia into Baton Rouge, and has promised that they will perform renovations on the new boat headed for Amelia.
Louisiana riverboats can only be up to 30,000 square feet for gambling. A couple of the decks on the boat can be used for entertainment and dining by Columbia Sussex.
The company has also assured the Morgan City area that employment will not be changed much with the boat switch.
