Connecticut Casino Slot Revenue Down Almost Ten Percent In June

Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand are making a play for gamblers in Atlantic City, and it now appears the casinos need to steal AC casino customers more than ever. The two casinos reported their slot revenue this morning, and it was down nearly ten percent.

Foxwoods has joined forces with Mohegan Sun recently on a new billboard campaign to try to lure gamblers from Northern New Jersey to come North to Connecticut casinos instead of going South to Atlantic City. They were preying on the struggling AC casinos.

Now, however, it looks as though they will need the additional revenue. Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods slot revenue was $57.8 million in June. That figure represents a decrease of 9.1% from the same period last year, but the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe was still excited.

While the revenue figures were down at Foxwoods, they continue to outperform other major casino destinations. Las Vegas and Atlantic City have been ravaged by the economy, and have seen double-digit drop offs in revenue on an almost monthly basis.

Atlantic City casinos actually dropped in revenue almost twenty-five percent a couple of months ago. The city is being increasingly hurt by gambling expansion in neighboring states.
