Connecticut Casinos See Increase In Revenue As Year Goes On
While the news might not have been great compare to last year. Connecticut's two major casinos both are pleased with revenue figures from the month of March compared to those of February this year.
Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are not immune to the problems that other casinos have been having in regards to the economy. The two casinos have to give twenty five percent of their revenue to the state, leaving not much room for decrease if the casinos are going to stay profitable.
For Mohegan Sun, it was mixed news this week with revenue figures for March coming out. The good news was that revenue was up from February, but the bad news was the casino had a fifteen percent drop from the same month last year.
This March, Mohegan Sun took in $66 million in revenue. That figure was a four percent increase from February, indicating that the industry may be on the way back up. Of course, there were also three more days in March, which could have accounted for the difference in revenue.
Foxwoods actually increased their revenue over March of 2008. Their slot win was $62 million, one percent higher from last year. It was a six percent increase over March.
Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have now had consecutive months with a revenue increase. For Foxwoods it has been three straight months and for Mohegan Sun, two.
