Coral Springs Man Accused Of Casino Robbery Identified
in the last week of 2009, a robbery took place in the poker room of the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino in South Florida. Just weeks after the suspect got away, he was found on Tuesday during a five hour stand off.
Broward Crime Stoppers received an anonymous tip that led to the whereabouts of Zibuda. Upon arrival, officers from the Broward Sheriff's Office demanded that the people inside the house come out. Three of the residents stepped outside, Zibuda did not.
Instead, he shot a couple of bullets, one of which went through the front window. Over the course of the next five hours, authorities attempted to lure Zibuda outside through a variety of methods.
At around 9:30 PM, SWAT team members stormed the house and found Zibuda dead, an apparent suicide. Authorities then identified that Zibuda had been the one they were looking for in connection to the robbery of the casino.
That robbery took place back on January 29th. The suspect walked into the poker room at the Seminole casino and waved a gun at the cashier. The suspect then fled the casino with thousands of dollars in hand.
Seminole police used surveillance tapes to try and determine the identity of the suspect. Zibuda was also wanted for a burglary charge and would have been facing the robbery charge had he survived the stand off.
