Deadwood A Model For Future Casino Gambling Expansion
back in 1989, there were not many states that were expanding their casino gambling options. The town of Deadwood, South Dakota, however, started allowing casinos in November of that year.
Now, over twenty years later, Deadwood has become a model of how casino gambling can help a town prosper. Through the years, the Deadwood casinos have brought millions of dollars in revenue to the state, and there have been vast improvements within Deadwood as a result.
Deadwood has become most famous for the HBP Series that was set in the town, but it is certainly their casinos that have become a popular destination for many. The money that has been generated from the casinos has helped complete such important tasks as helping the real estate market and rebuilding key buildings in the town.
The casino expansion in Deadwood has not stopped over the years. The town currently has over two dozen casinos, and has brought employment to over 2,000 workers. That is an important aspect at a time when many businesses have been laying off employees because of the recent economic conditions in the US.
The rest of the country must have taken a page from the Deadwood book because casino expansion has exploded around the US. Many states have expanded their casino options as part of an effort to help them through the economic recession. States that had already expanded are moving more towards full scale casino gambling.
For Deadwood casinos, it is just business as usual. The casinos will continue to operate and generate revenue just as they have for the past twenty years, and South Dakota residents will be all the better because of the casinos' existence.
