This weekend has seen Hollywood lose two of its brightest stars. On Friday, Gary Coleman passed away and on Saturday morning, legendary actor Dennis Hopper died at his Venice, California home from complications with prostate cancer.

Hopper leaves behind one of the mots lasting legacies in Hollywood. He is best known for his role in Easy Rider, but Hopper spanned many different areas throughout his illustrious career in show business.

To the gambling world, Hopper will best be remembered for his portrayal of Steve Atlas in Top of the World. Hopper played Atlas, the owner of a Las Vegas casino. In the movie, Ray Mercer (Peter Weller) gets out of prison and goes to Vegas to find the one thing that matters most to him, his wife, Rebecca (Tia Carrere).

Rebecca, however, had a new boyfriend in Atlas, and Mercer's world comes tumbling down in a series of mishaps that are created largely by Atlas. David Allen Grier and Joe Pantoliano also were part of an all-star cast.

As good as Hopper was on screen, off the screen he was considered somewhat of a loose cannon. Hopper had battled drug and alcohol addiction for much of his time in Hollywood. The addictions held Hopper back at times, but he was able to persevere and turn his life in the right direction.

Earlier this year, Hopper received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was thankful of the honor and fans applauded how he had cleaned up his life. Despite Hopper's success in his career, he will always be remembered for his role alongside Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider.
