Developers Hoping To Break Ground On Des Plaines Casino This Month

A casino that has been planned for Des Plaines, Illinois is closer to become a reality today. On Friday, two important pieces of the developing puzzle were solved by the Des Plaines City Council.

Midwest Gaming is the developer that is preparing to bring the casino to life. The developers won the right from the City Council to place fifty-seven signs around the facility in order to promote business.

There is a sign ordinance in Des Plaines, but the Council voted unanimously to approve a special ordinance for the casino. They were guaranteed that the electronic signs would be adjusted in brightness depending on the time of the day. The design director assured the council members that the signs would be controlled.

Also on Friday, final approval was given for the casino plans. Midwest Gaming is hoping that the approval will finally allow them to secure the financing necessary to complete the project.

The development group now believes that ground could be broken on the casino before the end of the month. The project will be completed in stages, with the gambling facility coming first.

Other parts of the project will include a parking garage, restaurants, and bars. Although the casino does not yet have a name, the wheels are in motion for the start of the construction. The planned opening date is tentatively set for late 2011.
