Donald Trump Urging Atlantic City Casinos To Sue Over Smoking Ban

Donald Trump has a hit television show. He also is a sharp businessman. When he sees something he thinks will damage his business interests, he speaks up about it.

Trump is now urging casino owners in Atlantic City to sue over the new smoking ban that has been put in effect. The ban, he claims, will do damage to casinos in an area where revenue is already lagging.

"I'm not a smoker, and I don't personally like what smoking does to people. But this puts us at a huge disadvantage," said Trump, in an interview with the Associated Press. Trump's concerns are very real.

Philadelphia has already taken many of Atlantic City's longtime customers. Slot casinos in Philly have made it easier for Pennsylvania gamblers to stay close to home, instead of having to travel to bet.

Smoking is permitted in the Philadelphia casinos, making it likely that the new ban in Atlantic City will cause even more customers to shift their gambling money out of New Jersey.

Trump is urging the Casino Association of New Jersey to stop the ban before it is enforced in October. He claims he will not file his own lawsuit.
