Election Season with 4 Main Races - How will it affect gambling?
Election years are always interesting around newspapers. The people involved in campaigns can be testy, prickly and petty, and that's being polite. This is because a lot is invested in a political run, at least financially and emotionally, if not politically. It also may be because so few people vote these days so that in a tight, local election, moving a few of the undecided voters one way or another can swing the election, thus every little advantage counts making each campaign speech a gamble. Each election cycle has a few races that are more interesting, or relevant than others, or in some way finds themselves elevated in the public eye.Sorry Charlie, but normally this wouldn't be much of a race. You have James Bramlett, the longtime mayor who is charming, diplomatic and represents the city well against a straight-spoken political neophyte, Charles Sullivan. Sounds like a slam dunk.
