Ex Smoker Gives Up Habit, Takes Up Gambling, Wins Lottery
The debate over how bad gambling can be for people could go on for days. The story is only told of the negative affects of gambling. A Bavarian man, however, has a good story to tell of how gambling changed his life for the better.
Most smokers cannot break the habit. They will say that they can quit whenever they want, but the truth is that the addiction is too strong.
Now comes along an idea that could help people quit smoking once and for all. Start gambling. That is what a Bavarian man did while trying to quit smoking, he began to gamble.
The man took all the money that he was spending everyday on cigarettes and bought himself lottery tickets. People with addiction problems find it easier to kick one habit by starting another one.
While the man was self medicating, an ironic thing happened. He won the lottery. Now, he is a former smoker who is now a millionaire.
Game 77 was the form of the lottery that the man hit the jackpot in. He won $1.8 million. That figure is enough for him to get counseling to overcome any addiction.
Germany has recently changed their laws regarding smoking in public places. Hopefully, with the new laws in place, more people will switch from the dangerous addiction of smoking, to the entertainment addiction of gambling.
The man who won the lottery does not yet know how he will spend the money. He will pay off his house, and, "Going out for a really good meal, that's a must, of course," he told lottery organizers.
