First Gambling, Now Booze At Salinas, California, Casino
In the state of California casinos have become a popular choice of revenue for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The expansion of casinos in the state has been fast and furious of late.
One of the newest additions to the casino industry has been Banker's Casino. It has only been opened a little over six months but up until now there has only been non-alcoholic beverages served. That all changed on Tuesday.
"It will be nice to be able to enjoy a glass of wine during my time at the casino. It is not that people will have to abuse the privilege, but the fact that beer and wine will be served is a good thing," said casino patron Jocelyn Monday.
The casino just received the license three weeks ago. They applied for the beer and wine license to attract people to their restaurant, according to owner Sal Jimenez. It will also help the casino compete with others in the state.
In California there has been a boom in the number of casinos. The state is using the money in a variety of ways and it has been reported that the state is considering legalizing online poker.
Being one of the most liberal states in the country, a move towards legalized online gambling could be one that other states would use as a case study. The US government could also be looking to regulate online gambling in the next few months.
