First Keno, Now Possibly A Gambling Casino For Ohio
Lawmakers might have backed themselves into a corner with their expansion of the lottery in Ohio. The state began their keno gambling games today, and it might just be the start of the gambling craze in the state.
MyOhioNow.com is preparing to submit signatures on Tuesday to the Ohio Secretary of State Jenifer Brunner. The signatures are in support of putting a $600 million resort casino initiative on the ballot for November.
If approved, the casino would be located between Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus in Clinton County. The project would include up to 5,000 slot machines and 100 table games inside of a 220,000 square foot casino.
Minneapolis based Lakes Entertainment Inc. would be the developer of the casino. There is a strong chance that lawmakers will get behind the project due to the troubled economy and budget problems in the state.
Should the casino be approved, it would bring much needed revenue to the state. It also would provide jobs at a time where employment is at a minimum. People are losing jobs that they have had for years.
5,000 permanent jobs would become available from the casino resort. It also would provide thousands of temporary work in the construction of the facility.
