Fond du Lac to break ground on new Black Bear casino and hotel
The Fond du Lac Band of Chippewa will officially break ground on a new Black Bear Casino and Hotel complex at 11 a. m. Friday on the casino property in Carlton. According to Black Bear Casino Marketing Director Rocky Wilkinson, the Fond du Lac Band has teamed with Walsh Bishop Associates Inc. , a Minneapolis-based architecture and interior design firm, to design the new Black Bear Casino and Hotel. The new casino will have more than 88,000 square feet -- enough room for 2,000 slot machines, 16 blackjack tables and 12 poker tables. The project will also include a 12-story, 250-room hotel, a four-story parking ramp that will add over 1,400 parking spaces, a 33,000 square-foot convention center, and a 10,000 square-foot bingo hall. The facility design also includes a steakhouse, buffet-style restaurant, and a deli. There will also be a cabaret with seating for 80 guests, two retail shops, a tanning salon, an arcade, and a business center. A primary goal of the new casino/hotel project is to make it more attractive for conventions, offering a "full-service" facility that will not only be able to host large groups of people but offer them all the amenities that they require in a convention destination.
