Former Tropicana Owners Want Back In An Atlantic City Casino
The former owners of the Tropicana Casino and Resort have been trying to convince state regulators in New Jersey that they have cleaned up their act. Literally. They are trying to gain back control of their old casino.
They do, however, have a contingency plan should the first one not work. They are preparing to make a move to acquire another casino, or land to build a new casino in Atlantic City. They would prefer their old casino, first.
"We're looking to get back the Tropicana Atlantic City, but if it doesn't work out, all those things we would be looking at. we like this market and we really want to be here," said new CEO of Tropicana Entertainment LLC, Scott Butera.
The things he was speaking of are buying a casino that currently exists. Many of the owners of the existing casinos would certainly entertain offers in these tough economic times.
The other change that Butera feels will help Tropicana get back in the Atlantic City game, is their removal of William Yung III from being in charge of the company. Butera is hoping that these changes will help them get their casino back.
"If we're not successful, that doesn't mean we won't try and come back in another way. There are going to be assets that will become available," said Butera.
