Foxwoods And MGM Grand Casino Slot Gambling Revenue Hold Steady
At least in one state casino gambling seems to be holding steady from year to year. Foxwoods Resort and MGM Grand casinos have reported that their revenue figures from April of this year are similar to those of the same period in 2008.
Slot machine gaming revenue was $57.5 million for the month of April. That represents a decrease of only .5% from April of 2008. Those are figures most casinos in the US are only dreaming of.
"I am thrilled with the recent results, and proud to see that the enhancements and additional amenities we have added to our property are resonating with our customers," said Michael Speller, President of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises.
Foxwoods is joined by Mohegan Sun to provide the casino options in Connecticut. The two companies have been holding steady even in this difficult economic climate. There could be, however, a game changer in the works.
Lawmakers are considering a smoking ban that would effect both casinos. The smoking issue in casinos is one that has been heavily debated throughout the US. With more casino workers joining unions, it is becoming increasingly difficult for casinos to ignore the rights of their employees.
Unions in several states have already helped to push lawmakers to ban smoking in casinos. Other states have excluded casinos from statewide indoor smoking bans.
