Foxwoods Resort Casino, MGM Grand, and Mohegan Sun have joined forces to bring customers from New Jersey to their Connecticut casinos, but so far the advertising campaign has not paid off. All of the casinos reported a slot revenue decline for September.

Although Foxwoods reported a decline of 2.8% and Mohegan Sun revenue dropped by 11.3%, the figures were better compared with the past several months. In August, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun both had revenue declines that were in double digits from the same month in 2008.

Despite the bad numbers the tribes that run these casinos are upbeat about the increase in business as of late. The recession is coming to an end and the slot figures are starting to show the change in economic standing.

"These results represent our best month in market share since May," said Michael Speller, President of Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises, in reference to the Foxwoods slot figures."

Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have joined forced over the summer for a billboard campaign on the New Jersey Turnpike encouraging New Jersey residents to come North to Connecticut casinos. The alternative for residents would be to go South to Atlantic City.

The Atlantic City casino industry has been ravaged by the competition in recent months. Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut casinos have all taken business away from AC, causing revenue to drop by over ten percent for many months in a row.
