Future Stars Sleep Through Jersey Shore Casting Call At Harrah's

Jersey Shore is one of the top series' in recent history for MTV. It has become so big, that members of the cast of the show have become part of pop culture of 2009. The success has led Doron Ofir Casting to hold a casting call on Sunday at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City.

This was exactly the type of hype that was needed to help the struggling Atlantic City resort bring customers back through the doors. The plan was grand, but it turned out to be a dud of an afternoon.

The company set the casting call for 11:30 AM, which, in itself, should have told Harrah's officials that AC twenty-somethings were not going to show up. The early time for young adults who were probably out partying late Saturday night resulted in less than ten people showing up. It was a disappointment for everyone involved.

"This was certainly not what Atlantic City needed," said Gaming Analysts Brad Dawkins. "With other areas in the Northeast making a play for their customers, this is the type event that must create excitement in Atlantic City, not disappointment."

Last season, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, and Michael "The Situation" Sorrentino, took MTV viewers by storm with their hard-partying habits that usually led to either massive fights or tremendous romantic rendezvous'. Several star seekers wanted to be the next big thing, including one hopeful that drove from Pittsburgh on Sunday to make the audition.

While Jersey Shore has brought attention to the once-proud AC casino industry, the casinos themselves have still not rebounded from a drastic falloff in revenue during the economic recession. In addition to the revenue decline, AC casinos are now facing increased competition from Delaware and Pennsylvania, both of which are now offering the same table game experiences that can be found in Atlantic City.
